ROLE 01 — MANUAL & EXPLORATORY

QA Engineer / Manual Tester

The QA Engineer is the authentic voice of the user. They don't just follow test scripts — they think like a user, act like a critic, and test like a detective. This role is all about finding the issues that automated tools miss: confusing flows, broken experiences, and edge cases hiding in plain sight.

Core Skills

  • Exploratory & Session-Based Testing
  • User Experience Evaluation
  • Defect Reporting & Root Cause Analysis
  • Test Case Design & Coverage Planning
  • Domain Knowledge & Risk-Based Testing

QA Tech Stack

AI-Assisted Tools:

  • AIO Tests, TestRail, Xray for test management
  • AI tools for rapid test data generation
  • Visual regression tools (Percy, Applitools)

Core Platforms:

  • JIRA, Confluence, Zephyr
  • BrowserStack, Sauce Labs for cross-browser testing
  • Postman for basic API validation
The Indispensable Human Element:AI checks if a button works. You check if a button makes sense. Understanding how a real user feels and behaves — and catching the edge cases no script anticipated — is your irreplaceable superpower.
ROLE 02 — AUTOMATION & ENGINEERING

SDET / Automation Engineer

The SDET is the engineering backbone of the QA team. They don't just test software — they build the infrastructure that makes testing scalable, reliable, and fast. This role is about writing elegant code, designing smart frameworks, and making CI/CD pipelines smarter with every commit.

Core Skills

  • Test Automation Framework Design
  • CI/CD Pipeline Integration
  • API & Contract Testing
  • Performance & Load Testing
  • Code Review & Test Architecture

QA Tech Stack

Automation Frameworks:

  • Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium for UI automation
  • REST Assured or Postman for API testing
  • AI-powered self-healing test frameworks (Healenium, Testim)

Infrastructure & CI/CD:

  • Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI
  • Docker and Kubernetes for test environments
  • Allure, ReportPortal for test reporting
The Indispensable Human Element:AI can generate test scripts, but it cannot architect a test strategy. The SDET applies engineering judgment to decide what to automate, what to skip, and how to build a framework that survives product evolution — not just the current sprint.
ROLE 03 — STRATEGY & LEADERSHIP

E2E Quality Engineer / QA Manager

The QA Manager is the strategic architect of the quality function. They don't simply manage test cases — they define the overarching quality model across the entire product lifecycle, align all QA resources to hit release targets, and build the culture where quality is everyone's responsibility. A leadership role that demands both analytical rigor and bold strategic vision.

Core Skills

  • Quality Strategy & Roadmap Planning
  • Release Governance & Risk Management
  • QA Team Building & Mentorship
  • Metrics, KPIs & Quality Gate Design
  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management

QA Tech Stack

Test Management & Governance:

  • Zephyr, TestRail, or Xray for test management
  • Risk-based testing frameworks and release checklists
  • Stakeholder reporting dashboards and quality scorecards

Observability & Monitoring:

  • Datadog, Grafana, Splunk for production quality signals
  • Tableau, Looker Studio for QA metrics dashboards
  • JIRA, Confluence for team coordination and documentation
The Indispensable Human Element:The QA Manager sets the quality boundaries, cultural standards, and ethical parameters that no AI can define. From release sign-off to the final judgment on a high-risk deployment, this is irreplaceable human leadership.
